GSSO Select Topics: History of basketball in gsso
GSSO.net user articlesjuice writes "

Men i was in class 3, i have just started getting very serious in basket, i mean very.
I have always been playing earlier than that. i came to the games master and told him
how about having a basketball team for the school,
the games master gave me all kinds of reasons that it will not happened....

so i went to the  coach in the sports council and told him that we have a lot of people that are interested in basketball practice that way he dont have to look for an intermediate team, if he can alow them come to practice, he said that is not a problem. our very first team consist of  me uzoma obiekea, isreal mba, john nwaogbe, fetus ikeotuonye, and few others i cant remember, so went and won the first owerri local government champion without even the school knowing it. when they

found out that we were going to state champion it was big news. then after that year i wanted our school to be very strong, so i convinced my other friends from other schools to teanfer to GSSO, my coach thought it was good idea that way he will have an intermidaite team from GSSO. then also have two of the best players in town that time that are drop out to enroll back in school, and the coach gets some allowance money to cover there sch fee, cos they dont have gurdian.

then the game master thinks now that he is a part of something good, then i was able to convince him to use one of the schools tennis court as basketball court. then i told him that i have 2 basketball goals, i have already hanged one in my house in the village. got them both, with scrap metal put together we have our new basketball court me and the boys painted it.

It was the biggest thing in school that time even teaches come out often so see boyz displaying skills, that time it was only 2 of us that can dunk so we were heros, fellow students talks about us in school, everyone wanted to know us. sometime the noise will be too much lefty is the most skilled one out of all of us, when he go behind the back, and in between the legs layup eveyone will run into the curt to carry him up and we have to tell people not to come in the court.sometime the fedi will try to see what is going on there. we even take trips to like fedral okigwe and often to owerri girl to put on a show for them. am so glat that GSSO is still balling.

I think we have to do something about our courts back home and set them back on "FIRE"
